I’ve been working on this story for a while, and it’s kind of a send-up of super-spy movies with a dose of Greek and Roman mythology.
The premise is that the Greek gods faded away a long time ago, but they didn’t simply cease to exist. After a long enough time, the world forgot them – and after an even longer time, they forgot themselves as well.
The Muses were special – their existence was rooted in both story and myth. The muse of erotic poems, Erato, sealed herself away in the world authors visualize when writing romance novels. When she forgot herself, she became an inhabitant of that world, believing that she was merely a self-aware background character whose life would remain cozy and uncomplicated as long as she could avoid being written into a story by an author.
Unfortunately for her, one of those authors himself was once a Greek demigod. And when he stumbles upon her, both of them start remembering more than they ever thought they would.
The Muse Who Forgot is available now via Amazon Vella.
For the record, Amazon’s “Preview” button frequently doesn’t work. If you use this direct link though, it’ll take you right to the story.
